Historical record of a 2014 manufacturing research programme

This page is a new summary. It is not a copy of an old website. No original homepage from 2014 was recovered. The earliest HTTP 200 capture found in the Wayback CDX on 14 October 2026 is 5 August 2018 for the apex URL. The www host returns those same captures. Domain-history titles are a for-sale page and a shell page. Their wording is not reused.

What a 2017 Walmart article says

On 20 April 2017, in Bentonville, Arkansas, Walmart published “Walmart Highlights Progress in Creating Shared Value in Tenth Annual Global Responsibility Report.” The article says: “Walmart, the Walmart Foundation and the U.S. Conference of Mayors launched a $10 million U.S. Manufacturing Innovation Fund in 2014. The fund supports innovative research into manufacturing processes. The FY2017 funding cycle marks the completion of the $10 million commitment; however, the projects continue to advance.”

The previous sentences in that article are about a separate pledge to purchase $250 billion more in products supporting American jobs through 2023, and about a June 2016 manufacturing summit. That purchasing pledge is not part of the $10 million figure.

What two 2014 news articles add

The Salt Lake Tribune published “Mayors, Wal-Mart announce innovation fund” by Tom Wharton on 14 March 2014. It says the U.S. Conference of Mayors, Wal-Mart and the Wal-Mart Foundation announced plans that Thursday in Washington, D.C., to launch a $10 million U.S. Manufacturing Innovation Fund, and that eligible nonprofit organisations could apply for grants of $100,000 or more. It says a Wal-Mart release described the first year as focused on textiles manufacturing and on common manufacturing processes for consumer goods, including small motor manufacturing and tooling for injection molding. It says applications were due April 22, and that information was available at https://www.usmanufacturingfund.com. The article itself says it is an archived 2014 piece, that the information may be outdated, and that it is provided for personal research and may not be reprinted. The sentences above are a short citation, not a republication.

Australian Manufacturing published a piece by its news desk on 17 March 2014. It says Walmart, the Walmart Foundation and the United States Conference of Mayors launched the Walmart U.S. Manufacturing Innovation Fund, which would award grants “in the excess of $100,000” to eligible non-profit organisations. It says applications were due April 22, 2014, that selected proposals would be awarded for periods of at least one year with an option of reapplying, and that each applicant would need sponsorship from the mayor of a USCM member city. It points readers to www.usmanufacturingfund.com. It also describes the programme as part of a commitment to buy an additional $250 billion in products that support American manufacturing, and it says that commitment was aimed at creating approximately 1 million American jobs. That jobs figure is the article’s claim about the buying commitment, not a measured result of the $10 million fund.

Both 2014 articles name this domain as a place to read about the programme at that time. Naming the domain is not proof of who operated it. This website is not that programme.

Current status

There is no form, no fee, and no way to contact an applicant from this page. A 2014 due date is not a current offer. The 2017 article says the FY2017 funding cycle marked the completion of the $10 million commitment. This website does not run, replace or continue the programme.

Three dated rows: a March 2014 announcement, an April 2017 completion sentence, and this 2026 page. The parties named in the 2017 article, kept separate from this website.Programme status: the FY2017 cycle completed the commitment, and this site does not take applications.
